SPIN! Uphill shouldn't really matter if you have the time, a good bike, and a triple chain ring set. I used to ride to work uphill both ways (no kidding!) and spinning was the key. Now, are small children walking faster than you? Yes. Are you getting a better workout than them? Yes. Might not be your cup o' tea but after that first run up, you'll feel empowered I bet. Beat the hill! At 320 lbs you'll probably need a nice steel or alum touring bike, but you can get them for quite a reasonable price. These bikes are made for that kind o thing.
