I did this once on a rush project because she offered to help out and she completely flaked on me -- insisted on coding it "her way" (instead of the way the client or I wanted it coded), completely blew the deadline, and nearly caused me to lose the client. We're not friends anymore. I think it's just better all around to keep your friends your friends and your colleagues/subordinates just that. There's a wall, if you know what I mean, or should be. I've had this argument with many friends throughout the years and people seem to fall into a few camps: 1.) Don't hire friends because it can ruin the friendship and that's more important. 2.) Do hire friends because that's what friends are for and NOT doing it will ruin the friendship. 3.) Hire them and, if they are truly friends and things go bad, they won't hold it against you or vice versa. I think I'm basically a #3. I'm thinking about it because I've been watching this Gonzo thing and it's reminded me of the various scandals in the Bush administration and they always seem to play out the same: 1.) "we did it right", 2.) "liberals hate America and baby jesus", 3.) "<crony> is doin' a heck of a job", 4.) <crony> is fired, 5.) "<crony> went off the reservation and it's all his/her fault." It's been the same thing with WMD, Iraq, Abu GrabAss, Katrina, Harriet Myers, Scooter, Gonzo, etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| ColdFusion MX7 by AdobeĀ® Dyncamically transform webcontent into Adobe PDF with new ColdFusion MX7.
