Okay, time to start pointing and laughing...

My sister found the original Pocket Fisherman commercial I made when I was a
kid on Biography.com:

www.biography.com/broadband/clipview/index.jsp?id=ronco-pocketfisherman2

I'm the kid with the tan windbreaker in the shot of the excited kid reeling in
the fish on the dock, and later I'm wearing the red plaid shirt.

This was before I became a member of SAG, so I got paid only $100 and got to
keep the wardrobe. The hat is at the bottom of a lake in Canada after a strong
wind on a canoe trip.

Everybody knows about Ron Popeil, but hardly anyone knows about his father,
Seymour, who was the real brains behind everything. He was a great guy, and
very nice to me whenever my father and I went to visit him. If you ever saw
Risky Business then you saw the Drake hotel where Tom Cruise went to confront
Rebecca DeMornay. Seymour lived in one of the two penthouses on the top floor.
The coolest thing for me was the custom ice cream bar he had behind the
regular bar, and everything was made out of the most beautiful rosewood you've
ever seen.

On my seventh birthday my father and I were in his offices in Chicago and he
heard it was my birthday. He flipped a nickel and asked me to call it; I
called heads, and it was. He slips a five out of his money clip and gives it
to me with a "Happy birthday, kid!" That was a lot of money to a seven
year-old forty years ago. Nice guy.

It was fun to be a part of a cult classic. It was even better to see the
Pocket Fisherman save the day in "Over The Hedge" :)
