I'm going through the game again - doing skill points (special achievements,
just like the skill points in the "Ratchet and Clank" games) and re-running
the campaign in "Hard" mode.

I'm just surprised how the game has caught me. I play FPSs a lot, but
rarely twice. I run through the story and I'm done. The only game that
I've played over (before this) is "Half-Life".

The pacing of this game is truly remarkable. The large offensives (dozens
or more soldiers in play at once) are exhilarating. The quiet sections are
perfectly toned and balanced for the occasional "BOO!" moments but nothing
ever feels too, well, anything for too long.

The second play through offers more weapons. Nothing tremendous, but
definitely enough to make the second play through different (and a bit
easier, unless you up the difficulty).

I guess I'm just surprised I'm still playing it - especially when "God of
War 2" is just sitting there waiting to be opened. It really is a
tremendous game - even better, in some specific ways, than "Half-Life 2"
(although Half-Life's environmental control always brings it to the top).

Really - at least if you like FPSs - give this one a shot.
