I really don't think the conservative party is ruled by "people for conservative interpretation of the constitution" any more ( I wish it was). The ones that turned out in droves in 2000 and 2004 could care less about interpretation of the constitution and more about enforcement of their belief system. IMHO of course :)
but yeah, extremists on both sides don't count. Unfortunately, from my coworker's pov, he was seeing the hateful people as representing the entire liberal group.
