Hey all... appreciate the replies. My responses:
>> "I like the Q/A however, who comes up with the answer? Is that the >> last word? maybe there should be the ability to discuss the question / >> answer" Whoever submits the question also submits the answer. I do plan in implementing a "comments" area where people can comment on the question and/or answer. the answer given is by no means meant to be the "final" or "only" answer. I'd love to see discussion on whether or not the answer is a "good" answer... whether or not there's a "better" answer, etc. >> When providing code in a question in addition to the explanation the >> Answer should display the result of running the code. >> Question: what will the following code produce: >> <cfset myVar = "Happy Birthday"> >> >> <cfoutput>#myVar#</cfoutput> >> >> Answer: Setting a variable then outputting that variable will result in >> the value of the variable being displayed. See the display box for the >> result of running the code in question. I'd actually rather see people run the code on their own. If they go "hmm... I'd like to see that in action", cool. copy/paste the code and run it. Modify it if necessary. If you make a modification and see something cool, post it in the aforementioned-still-to-come comments area :) >> its a good site but I personally dont like sites crammed all the way the the left with >> menus on the left as well. At this point, I'm not terribly worried about layout issues. I'm not a designer (no, really <g>), and did put a lot of time into just getting this one working (my first real table-less CSS site. w00t!). if there's nothing glaringly wrong, i'm ok with leaving it as-is for now. I have functional bits that need to be added first, and those would take priority over any aesthetic re-design. >> sell your condo yet? Got a lease-to-own person in. They won't cover my full expenses per month, but they'll cover about $1500 of the $1800 that place runs me. So I have full-on wood over that. Thanks for asking :) >> After you view the answer, there should be a link to the next question in >> the chapter. It would be cool as well if you could provide a comment box >> that allows you to post your response before viewing the answer. Agreed about the link. Will add that. As far as posting a response before viewing the answer... I didn't really intend this to be an interactive test/quiz kind of site. But if the masses clamor for it... I can add it to the to-do list. >> Maybe that comment box could keep a running tab of the questions you >> answered and display a print sheet when your done with the question / your >> answer / real answer in columns or something for you to review later. See above regarding the running tab of questions that you answered. However, I do like the idea of printing out the questions. Hadn't thought about that. Will definitely be adding it to the list.
