What is your price point? The Grand Wailea is supposed to be kick-ass, but
major bucks are involved. I've stayed in the Marriott Wailea- nice place.

If you want a little different feel, have you considered renting a house or
condo? I have a buddy who rents properties in Maui just for that purpose,
you can see his site here:

If you like what you see and inquire about booking, let them know I referred
you so he can treat you right. I've stayed in the yellow Laihaina house
before- great spot, but probably too big unless you are taking
friends/family. The guest house is the right size, but check if there is
anyone staying in the house. If there is someone in the house, the back
yard/pool is shared and you might want more privacy than that offers.

Hotel-wise, Wailea and Kanapaali are the best spots to stay on Maui, but
also the priciest, I think.
