I can live with these laws. I also want mandatory training and concealed carry
certification for all handgun purchasers. I don't care if they use it, but
they have it.

My training was a bit more prosaic. I was taught to use just about anything as
a weapon. When I was in practice and a lot lighter I was deadly with almost
any blade between 2 and 7 inches. I also was taught to kill with my hands and
to absorb enough damage or injury to make my effort fatal, probaly to both.

The most important lesson was that I was responsible for my own safety, not the
police or anyone else.

That is where training and practice come in. I never conceal/carried, but I
did wear a shoulder holster when out hunting or in the woods. I killed my
share of mr. no shoulders. Because of the practice I could draw and put five
shots inside the 7 ring in less than 15 seconds at 5 meters. I never said a
firearm was a magic talisman.

Even at my meanest, I think I would be a bit deterred looking down a .45
caliber bore.

In a school situation, I would have drawn when I heard the fist shot and taken
up an ambush position. That was the one scenario I hated in training.
