That's the simple explanation of a complex problem.  There's probably
100s of reasons and the key is figuring them out.  But there's points
beyond that.  One is video games, movies, and TV.

Right now they glorify violence and immerse anyone watching,
listening, or playing in it.  Do we want that?  Personally I don't and
I think it's cultural pollution.
