You got caveats about winos or a local Church (local in the sense that
the physical building is in the neighborhood, the reverend lives in
another city on a golf course, no less...) trying to start gospel
missions and daily feeding programs in the middle of your residential
neighborhood?

I thought not.

Those are the two biggest issues in the last year in my nieghborhood.
One was solved by sheer force of local numbers being against the
church's plans, leveraging the city's zoning laws and basically
getting the locals organized to protest and picket, raising safety
concerns, etc. The other was solved when the church joined forces with
an already existing mission in a less populaced part of town (hence
the city zoning for it), the winos, homeless, whatnot, followed the
food.

And I don't have anybody telling me what color to paint my house.

Personal pride and respect for neighbors takes care of the yard maintenance bit.
