Exactly - that's the best way to look at it.  A media PC can't do anything
magical here - it's just as limited as VCR or a TIVO or whatever as far as
tuner capabilities.

There are some capture cards out there that support CableCard (if your cable
company does) that could get around this, but they're still very pricey (and
unfortunately very buggy).

In fact that's why the PVR aspects of this could really be done just as well
or better with a dedicated PVR like a Tivo.  What you gain with a Media PC
is the ability to choose an interface and usually more disk space.  It's all
the extras that make a Media PC worth the trouble: playing downloadable
video files, online stuff (using YouTube on the big TV) and games.
