They're silver fillings, not mercury fillings.  They do contain
mercury, but they're still silver fillings.

Anyway, amalgams have NEVER been classified as hazardous substances.
Apparently, the stuff in the CFLs is classified as such.

I dunno, someone says "If you break one, don't tell the government".

I don't particularly like that idea.  If I break one, and the mercury
level in my daughters bedroom is suddenly 6 times the "safe" level
recommended.. well, what if something along the way prevented her from
being able to have children, or caused birth defects in her children,
or gave her cancer from living in a bedroom for 15 years with unsafe
levels of mercury.

I know the chances are slim slim slim.

Why would I want to take that chance?

Plus, one of the CFL bulbs I put in the garage 6 months ago has
already burned out.  What a crock.
