Got up this morning still thinking about the men are happier thread. I wandered off in to the bathroom and thought WOW this place is spotless, all the chrome is bright and shiny, no water spots, etc....
Then I got thinking about all the crap my wife does around the house. I can clean when I want to, six years in the Marines, trust me I can clean, wears my toothbrush and Never Dull. But the reality is 90% of the time I consider the bathroom clean if there is no towel on the floor and I've picked up the Q-tip that didn't make it into the trash can the first time. My room is the same. For the most part I don't care if the bed is made (my wife makes it daily), as long as the dirty clothes are in the hamper and there are no more than 3 stacks of books and a computer next to my side of the bed. I empty my pockets (which tend to have cash, receipts, screws, binkies, tools, mail, uncashed checks, lotto slips, lists etc..) on the dresser and for the most part am happy knowing that I can find my pocket items when I need them by looking on the dresser. I prefer for all the dishes to be done and food put away etc.. However, I won't loose any sleep if there is a dirty pan in the sink. Yet amazingly our house is nearly always spotless. I can't find anything, but the house is usually not only in order but clean and sparkly. Although I consider myself a better cook in recent years my wife does the vast majority of cooking. Not to mention taking care of the 2 year old and 6 year old. I help with baths and home work but she probably handles it 70% of the time. I'm at work in the morning when they get up so she handles getting the kids dressed, fed and off to school before she goes to work. By the time I come home she has usually picked up the kids, and is off at a play date, soccer practice, ballet, or some other kiddie event. If there isn't a kiddie event then she is either grocery shopping, or buying the kids new soccer shoes, tutus or whatever the need de Jour might be. She will be home in time to make dinner and start the evening routine of homework and baths etc.. Meanwhile I am doing yard work, working in the shop, building the kids a new play structure or whatever in relative peace compared to the chaos of her day. Then I think I am a hero for helping with homework, or giving one of the girls a bath or reading a bedtime story. My wife does 3 or 4 times what I do around the house. So yes men are happier... for all the reasons you mentioned and so many more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 The most significant release in over 10 years.
