It is a legit question as far as changing the oil/fluids. you should always
have them checked before and after long trips, no matter what the mileage,
sort of a better safe than sorry thing.

It was the wear and tear question. You aint gonna screw it up on a 1000 mile
trip. Hell, 5000 miles is nothing for those trucks, especially brand new.
Gone are the "break in" days. New technology. New rules.  That's all I'm
saying. You have a brand new truck!!!! A truck made to be a work truck! USE
IT! :) And enjoy! I'm jealous. I want a brand new F150 ...
