The problem with the piece is the problem with the reasoning overall:
it's myopic.  The question is/was NOT "is Hussein a threat to US
security"?

The question is/was:

How MUCH of a threat is Hussein to US security, how much does that
threat compare to other threats, what resources should we spend on
that threat, what are the spend options, and what are the risks of
spending those resources.

As we all know that basic and obvious analysis wasn't done to
disastrous consequences.

So, yeah, if you only consider spending all of your disposable income
on a Ferrari, ignoring all other options, well, you might get a
Ferrari.  Only in this case we spent the Ferrari but got hoodwinked
and ended up in a Yugo deathtrap.  Now we're doing 110 on the Autobahn
with our breaks out, a broken seat belt, and tires about to fail.

As we contemplate the impending crash we might wonder, "we spent
Ferrari money for this?"
