I say we embrace the situation. "ColdFusion: Undead zombie overload of web application programming languages!" We can start by bringing appropriate metaphors into the discussion. For example don't talk about CF _isn't_ dead. Instead talk about how it has thrust itself from its dank grave and is single-mindedly looking for brains (of developers) to messily consume. When talking about CF's ability to connect with many other technologies instead of pulling out the old "spice rack" or "toolbox" metaphors we can talk about how CF lumbers up to other technologies, rips of their faces and eats their brains. CF time-to-market and development cost advantages we can be painted as a red-eyed, bloody-fanged, barely-human beast running with near-supernatural determination through an onslaught of small-arms fire to tear the still-beating heart out of your project. And eat its brains. See - it can work for us. CF: One technology corpse you don't want to fuck around with. (Or it'll eat your brains.)
