Hey Mary Jo ... glad you found something that works for you! As for the cutting out, XM has been having MAJOR issues with their system this week. To the point where they were sending subscribers updates every couple of hours (someone didn't install some software correctly on the satellite or something). That might be what you're experiencing. I'd wait to see if it clears up in a day or two and if not call customer support. Every once in a while mine will fade out for a second then come right back, but if you're getting it a lot, they can diagnose the problem for you.
Enjoy! I LOVE mine! I'm pretty happy with the system over all. The XM lineup works well for me, lots of music channels with stuff I like. I'd like to have NFL channels but other than that I'm happy with the offerings. I love having the XM+Napster on my computer, it works well when I'm not doing anything really resource intensive. It doesn't include all XM channels but has enough that I can usually find something I like. Helps that it lists all the songs on each channel currently playing. The unit itself is okay...not very user-intuitive at all and sometimes downright annoying. For instance, when you set up a recording schedule, there doesn't seem to be anyway to get back to the main screen without turning the unit off and on again! The speaker system is decent enough...nothing to rave about (particularly considering the price) but does the job. I was surprised that putting the antenna in the window of my room resulted in no signal at all, but I hung it upside down on the back of the chair the speakers are sitting on and it works beautifully. It's definitely very particular about facing in a specific direction, I didn't expect it would prefer being facing away from the window. Still trying to get a decent sound in the car. Right now I'm just using the aux input on the radio and I am getting a hiss on it that's pretty annoying but not unbearable. I'll probably look into having someone wire it into the radio directly (I'm definitely NOT good at wiring stuff myself) and hopefully that will correct it. I was though surprised how often the sound cuts out when I am driving. Well, driving east that is. In some areas it was dropping so frequently I turned the radio off. Returning in the opposite direction it didn't seem to be nearly as much of a problem. Not sure if this is typical for satellite radio or if I just need to move the antennae on my car roof, but was surprised it wasn't more reliable. Thanks for the help in picking this system out, so far I'm fairly happy with it, and if I can get the issues in my car cleared up, I'll be very satisfied!
