Vista just isn't ready for primetime. Whether you say that is the fault of Vista, or whether you go with it being the hardware and software developers moving too slowly to produce Vista drivers is immaterial when trying to get your system to work with existing software and hardware.
I've noted that gaming now seems to be just a few frames behind XP in Vista with Nvidia's drivers in most major gaming titles. However your chances of experiencing gaming hiccups is still much higher in Vista, and much, much higher in Vista 64. I'm getting excited again to dual boot to Vista, but then when I think about the possible problems I grit my teeth and decide it isn't worth the possible frustration when my XP system is actually stable. Another thing which has me shaking my head is that Microsoft's much touted Halo 2 for PC is a Vista only release which does not utilise DX10 features. The game looks practically Cel-shaded in some screenshots that have been posted online. Then there is this much hyped DX10 version of Lost Planet. A review site placed images side by side and the differences between the games was miniscule! The DX10 version just seemed to have a bit more fog, but in some shots the DX9 colors and lighting actually looked better to me. And no, the DX10 version didn't run any faster than the DX9 either! So what exactly are we supposed to see with DX10 titles that developers cannot now accomplish in DX10? Vista just doesn't make sense to me right now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 The most significant release in over 10 years.
