Same issue, I just hired a designer specifically to figure out the color scheme and make me a logo. It's funny, she started on the "price range for logo creation" pitch, to which I replied, simple and quick, i.e. inexpensive. She is used to working for big companies that want to spend thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars on brand image, and that's not really where I am at yet. Still, she was quite happy to accommodate me, so that's cool. She actually asked if I was married to the color scheme or not. The answer would be no.
