I've only had experience with a normal TV and S-Video (audio was from the earphone, since most of these s-video only use a couple of the available wires), and it's been a bit (our DVR machine got wacked), but if I recall, the desktop looked like crap, but when I fired up media player, it took over the TV and made everything look... well, like TV.
Resolution and whatnot might be different tho... I remember TV, and how it sorta (doesn't) compare with computer resolution (320x something or other?) cuz it's plain different (electrons not quite beamed into the scull... eh), but I don't have a clue about LCD TV... hmmm.... eh. Yeah, so probably doesn't matter, but maybe it does... try firing up an app that takes over the card and see what happens?
