I generally agree that hybrids are not the way to go, I'm just arguing that a hummer is no better.
the problem is other solutions require dramatic changes and aren't necessarily viable... hydrogen powered vehicles for example. I think 100% electric cars would be better, but we american's drive too much - and too far Only 3% of american electricity is generated from oil (I think, don't quote me or hold me to that). There's an electric scooter / motorcycle out there that I saw in popular science.. it has two front wheels for added stability around curves... goes up to 62mph, and has a battery live about 2-1/2 hours, and with current electrical costs, takes about $3 to "fill up"..... I could deal with that. $10 a week to get back and forth to work, with no reliance on gasoline.
