This gets to the hole I see in the article: maybe the dust-to-dust cost of hybrid *today* is higher than for conventional designs, but that only makes sense for a new technology. What's the decade-over-decade cost *tomorrow*? You could argue that if electric technology is the direction we need to go, then the investment in eco-cost today is going to have huge eco-ROI decades later.
