cost of hybrid *today* is higher than for conventional designs, but
that only makes sense for a new technology.  What's the
decade-over-decade cost *tomorrow*?

You could argue that if electric technology is the direction we need
to go, then the investment in eco-cost today is going to have huge
eco-ROI decades later.

But that's where I'd point out that electric cars don't seem sensible
compared to ethanol.
