Food was great, people were excellent, classes were interesting... except 1..
Paul Kenney's : Test Driven Development for Cold Fusion. It was a
presentation on CFCUnit.
He's a smart guy and knows his stuff but couldn't relay that
information in any rational way.. not sure what it was.. I could
barely hear him, the information was dry.. the first 30 minutes or so
was monotone talking reading directly from slides.. then the code
ugh..I couldn't find meaning to it.. maybe he explained it during the
first 30 minutes, but I couldn't catch on. In the end, I got nothing
from the class and would have rather ran my privates through a meat
grinder (the wife would have objected to that). Anyways.. I don't care
if he teaches "100% guaranteed way to pick up Playboy chicks" I
wouldn't take the class. I know it'd be a boring, inattentive and slow
class, half way through you have a hot poker stuck through your ears..
and no, I don't know any playboy chicks, but I think if they saw a hot
poker through your ears, they'd probably avoid you.. who knows, maybe
not, and maybe that's on his list of picking up chicks.. If so, I hope
it's the first thing on his list so you can get it over quick. No
offense Paul.. stick to making the tools, but have someone else preach
it.
Speaking of preaching.. if you EVER have a chance to listen to Hal
Helms, do so. The man's voice is almost angelic (in a manly, dudely
way ;). If I remember any of this stuff 6 months from now, it'll be
his class on OO. He presented the information with practical and
rational thinking. Jokes were spread throughout to help ease the
information in.. anyways.. he has the class tomorrow at 11-12 in
Ballroom GH, and I may attend it again.
