I heard this story on the way into work today. The explosion was local...about 15 miles from where I live. I was just shaking my head after I heard it.

Her 64-year old mother, Hazel Pawlik, died last month. According to the fire inspectors' report, the homeowner, David Pawlik, called the fire department on May 29th, saying quote.."every time my wife lights a cigarette, a blue flame shoots up to the ceiling." He was told not to light any more cigarettes. But city manager Chester Nolen says before the fire department could get there..Pawlick's wife wanted one more cigarette. Her husband struck one match..and it went out in a big blue flame. He struck a second match..and the whole house blew up. Hazel Sanderson's 12-year old daughter, Stephanie, remains hospitalized at Parkland. -- "He's been fortunate, he cannot deny.
