First, the thing I found helps most, make a name for yourself. Be
helpful on CF-Talk or the n00b list. It will help your name be
prominent on a Google search, and (perhaps) more importantly, when
people need help, they will think of you. If nothing else, this can get
you piecemeal and contract work to get you through the period before you
are actually employed.

Second, subscribe to CF-Jobs here. I found my job that way. Also,
subscribe to Jobs-talk, as for some reason, a lot of jobs get posted
there. The on-topic chatter is helpful, too. :-)

Third, subscribe to the appropriate boards on Craigslist for the
geographical area you are targeting, if there is one. Craigslists
publishes RSS feeds to make this easy. Sign up for Monster, Dice,
Careerbuilder, etc. Sure, you get their crap newsletters, but it can't
hurt the job search, right?

I've never worked with a headhunter (successfully) so I don't know who
might be good to work with. And asking about the "local coldfusion
industry" is kinda vague if you don't tell us where local is. The
company I work for is great! We're not hiring and no, you can't have my
job.
