Ah, so I would be safe in assuming that...

If company A says they paid person B X.
And person B said they got Y.

That the IRS would naturally assume that company A is telling the truth,
and it would be person B's requirement to prove otherwise instead of
company A proving they paid the person.

I would expect nothing less.
