Well, I was wondering more how easy it would be for the Mac partition to access
the files on the Windows partition...but from the information on the Parallels
site, it does look like that is not an issue.

That actually is the reverse of what I want, I need the Mac to be the host, not
the client. Apparently Apple does have a Remote Desktop for Mac but it's pretty
pricey so to do this I'd probably have to go with a VNC client.

> Unfortunately its not the same for desktops.

Well, that's what I am looking at here. And a high-end Mac is indeed a good
chunk of change more. The issue for me as well is that to switch to a Mac as my
main desktop system, I'm looking at other costs such as a new router, keyboard
and other software that I'd want to get that I already own for PC so I don't
have to jump into Windows for all my most common development tasks. It's
frustrating that so many manufacturers have no upgrade path from Windows to
Mac, but that is unfortunately what is part of the cost of switching.

I really wanted to give it a try, but after spending the bulk of yesterday
researching it, I'm finding it's just not feasible for me now. Just one
example...I currently use Roboform to store all my passwords and secure data.
It gets synced from my desktop to my laptop to my Pocket PC and is available in
all my browsers. Anywhere I go, anytime I need a password, I have it on hand.
The problem is, it isn't compatible with Mac. They are planning to add Mac
support but right now it's not available. There's a similar program for the
Mac...but it's not compatible with Windows! I really can't see trying to
maintain this kind of database of information in two places, so the only way to
continue to use it is to do all my web browsing from Parallels and use only the
Windows browsers. Suffice to say, I'm really not interested in switching if I
have to do that. I've run into similar issues with other tasks I would want to
be run on the Mac but have to get the data over from Windows to work on it. So
I think my best bet is stick with Windows for now and when my laptop goes, I'll
switch to a MacBook so I can then more easily switch my desktop over to Mac in
the future. Hopefully by then the folks at Roboform will have gotten it ported
over to the Mac as well. ;-)
