This is an interesting interview with several Sony executives specifically
about the social aspects Sony is trying to build with "Home", "Little Big
Planet" and "SingStar":

Although I'm blatantly and happily Little Big Planet's bitch (which they
barely discuss) I'm also getting really interested in "Home". Every time I
read something about a new idea seems to arise: it's just a cauldron of
possibilities.

A minor example is in the article and really shows how Sony is thinking
about this: when asked if you'll be able to buy virtual T-Shirts for your
avatar in "Home" Sony talks about you might an ACTUAL T-Shirt and
automatically get a virtual version for your avatar.

They're talking about public design tools for "Home" objects and clothing,
age-protecting areas and tons of external integration (cell phone cameras
which transfer pictures automatically to Home).

"SingStar" sounds really slick... but I doubt I'll bother (I'm not a
singer). Still - as an example of how things CAN be integrated it's pretty
impressive.

Live isn't that sexy, but it works damn well. Sony's really reaching for
the brass ring here tho' - it'll either be a sea-change or a complete
failure. Nintendo still has no idea how you actually work that Interweb
thing.
