Mike, I get it. Ideologically they are not our friends. That's why I say the right thing for us to do is press them for a more open society that allows the free exchange of ideas. Ultimately they are going to have to choose between an open society or an overthrow by the Wahabbis. We need to keep the pressure on them to move toward us rather than away from us.
Politically they are our allies, we proved as much when we defended them against Saddam the first time around. Maybe they are only our allies because of shared economic and security interests, but that is enough for now.
