The kibbutz movement was heavily socialist which probably says a lot to why
there was such Soviet support for the creation of Israel. Problem for the
Soviets was that Israel wasn't Marxist and saw its socialism as a component
of society, not the whole of it. Later on the Soviet Union found it better
to support the Arab states and take a hostile tone towards Israel.
