The research was done a CDC pamphlet debunking flu myths: even as soon as a
half-hour after reading the pamphlet older people misremembered 28% of the
false statements as true (and considered them true because they read them in
a CDC pamphlet).

In short it doesn't matter whether this is true or not, was true and is not
now true or whatever: once people read it a lot of them will consider it
true no matter what.
