Update: Called Dell instead of ordering it online to make sure I was getting the best deal I could for my man.
They advised me against the 1700 due to how bulky it was and for what he needed it for, there really wasn't any other plus factor. In fact, we didn't really want Vista, so I was able to configure a 1500 with XP Pro. The package had a base price of $749 and included XP Pro and 2 Gig's of RAM. 2 important factors and 2 things I didn't know they had a special for. Added a travel bundle and 2 year on site next day hardware and 2 yr accidental damage coverage and the total came to 1045. SOLD!
