alright, my setup is like this.. I've got a Netgear Super G wireless router. I've got one of the 4 ports (not the WAN) connected to the ethernet port of my desktop. I have my wireless broadband card in my desktop (via a PCI to PCMCIA converter). I set up my router by hitting the IP 192.168.1.1 on my desktop. All works fine. I connected my laptop to the wireless network via the wireless connection, it found the SSID just fine. I entered the WAP access code and bam, I'm connected to the Desktop. I was able to share files and even the internet connection. However this morning I tried to set up my work laptop to work with the connection. I changed the Static IP in the TCPIP properties to 192.168.1.2 and was able to hit the url http://192.168.1.1 (the router). I changed the TCPIP properties back to "Obtain IP automatically". I could see the network in the Wireless Utility (the SSID was present), but when I'd connect, the best it would show was "Limited or no connection". I chose the Repair option and it'd hang on the "Acquiring network address"... when I ran ipconfig sometimes I'd see an IP, other times I'd see 0.0.0.0. When I tried ipconfig /renew it would hang for a while and then error something about the DHCP server being unavailable. My desktop is Windows Vista Home Premium, my home laptop is also Vista HP, those worked fine. The one that failed is Windows XP Pro. There's no VPN involved yet, I just wanted to connect this XP laptop to share my Desktop's internet. Thanks
