Downloaded this today. I've not played much myself but my nine year old
LOVES it.
Basically there's a heavily populated sandbox - a cityscape. Lots of signs,
cars, windows, poles, beams, boxes, etc. You're character goes into a giant
sling-shot and you aim then shoot him. He flies and smashes into things
humorously with all the realistic physics we've come to expect from the PS3.
There are some challenges ("Hit all the Monkeys" or "Tag all the Targets")
but most of it's a free-for all. You get points for causing pain (hits to
groin earn you more points), doing tricks in the air (similar to a skating
or snowboarding game) and smashing things.
The gameplay is actually deeper than you might expect. The slingshot can be
aimed you control the power of the shot. In the air you can do tricks and
steer the trajectory once you hit you can grab on to things (to, for
example, get dragged by a car or roll down the street clinging to a giant
bowling ball) and after that you have a form of aftertouch (called "Ooch")
which lets you tap out those extra few points.
Add in the explosives which can bounce you around the field like a pinball,
and other explosives which you can grab onto and fling at opportune times
and cause more damage.
No - that doesn't make for actually "deep" gameplay... just "deeper". ;^)
My son's favorite feature: one of the "tricks" you can do while in the air
is fart. No, the humor isn't exactly sophisticated, but it works on the
level it inhabits.
