I had a similar experience with cabs in Chicago....My driver got me when I was a bit shell-shocked, hadn't slept in two days, had just had a bad experience with another driver, and had absolutely no clue where my hotel was. He helped me get my bags (enduring harrassment from other frivers who thought he was jumping the line) and too me exactly where I needed to go, taking, as best I could see on a map later, the shortest and most inexpensive route. It's the little things. The next morning my driver pointed out that I had dropped a wad of twenties getting out of the car. Yeah I called and yeah the cab commission said that all they usually got were complaints.
