I thought they went to work for Microsoft. (Bush administration? The DMV?)
Depending on the level and severity of disability, many find productive lives in assisted living group homes. A good friend of my sister runs one, and the residents lead very nice lives. The home finds them jobs, and helps them cope. Like any other government supported program, your results may vary widely. Sadly, the health of many that do not get into a good home deteriorate rapidly, and may not outlive their caregiver by many years.
