I had Safari for a couple of years when it first came out but don't have
it anymore. I found it to be a great reference anytime I got stuck with
a new problem. I had the 10 bookshelf edition and usually left 2 spots
open for anytime I suddenly needed a book about some technology that
wasn't already on the shelf. Unless they've changed things, you can
only change each slot once per month or so - leaving a slot open helps
when you need something but can't put back any of the other books on
your shelf yet.

Eventually I stopped the subscription because I found myself still
wanting to read the books in a physical format and not online. I
generally like to hold books when I read them and I was going to the
store and buying them even if they were also on my bookshelf. They do
offer a discount (I think) for physical books if you have it already on
your bookshelf and want a hardcopy of the online book.
