It's sorta funny, and ironic, but the world does seem to be made up that way.
I've found that being considerate, and kind, and empathetic or
whatever, gets me pretty far in life, and helps me feel decent about
myself as a bonus.
There are things I like, and things I dislike, but hell-- I ain't in
the holocaust.
(Things like the books "Night" and "Dawn" made an impression-- we are
capable of living through just incredible stuff-- physically,
mentally. Wow. And shit like that goes on to this day. Crazy, mean,
inhuman treatment of others. Just freakish, but I guess that's our
lot. We're our own dancing god of destruction and creation... but I
digress)
I don't let too much get me down. Someone is an asshole, I'm like "I
bet they had a bad day" "that's where their reality is right now"--
I'll "throw down" if I have to, in situations like /that/, but it's
pretty rare, and when you're "connected" (considerate, empathetic,
whatever) it's even rare-er. A smile, or the right look, can
sometimes create, like good vibes, even.
Basically, I spread the love. Since I love just about everything (it
enriches existence- deepest sorrow, towering joy) I'm wealthy in that
regard.
Live as an example, ya know? Screw what other people do, or at least
being all worried about it.
I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I actually love not
knowing the true extent of everything, because I'm curious.
Or maybe you learn all you need to know from kindergarten, or Mr.
Rogers and Sesame Street, and everything else is just definition.
I don't like the idea of *forcing* people to love one another,
sotospeak. I guess, sorta what I'm saying, is I love assholes too
(<-- I had typed that, and I was like, that is too goddamn funny, wtf,
leave it in). It takes all types. I'd rather persuade them to not
/be/ assholes, or educate, or whatever, which is probably un-zen of
me, but fuck it. LOL.
You shouldn't be made to be kind. Sometimes, un-kind is fine. Not
super-unkind, of course-- that cannot be tolerated (I'm thinking of
senseless killing, or rape or molestation here. Shitty shit like that.
Or Spammers :]). But we all gotta be able to find our own path in
life. I shouldn't be able to dictate another's journey-
At least not by The Law-- hell, we can shun one another, and all types
of age old shit that doesn't cost us tax payers one red cent.
Heh. Oh well. Guess you gotta flow with the times, or thoughts of
that nature.
I need to be a better example, actually. Less typing, more doing.
And more being really aware. I let the filters come down, even tho I
know they're there. We people are funny, you know? Smoking and
drinking poison, for kicks (A little bit doesn't hurt, and I'd wager
is probably good for one, but, moderation, even in moderation, as the
saying goes.)
Hmmm...it's time to turn thought, to action. Nietzsche, don't fail me now! :-)
