I'm fascinated by this post.....

I agree with Jim on lot's of things....and his response to Bruce's post was
perfect. I wish I could have signed my name to it.

Not many topics get me quite as riled up as this one.....just creationism :)

I'm curious though, if you grew up in a fundie home, were you subjected to
any of the kind of torture (poetic license there) as the kids we saw in the
film? And how were you able to rise above the indoctrination and come out
relatively clean on the other side?

Here's the truth: Fundies are equally as evil as the Muslims, or the Nazis,

I dunno.....If the fundie rises to violence, or teaches hate and fear (as
many of them do), then I'll agree with you. But many fundy's are just
evangelicals, who aren't so much dangerous as they are annoying. (Well, they
are dangerous to their kids or to anyone over whom they can exert
influence).

AGREE!

Fear IS how we control our children. "If you don't finish that dinner, you
don't get your dessert." That's fear. "If you don't do your homework, you
can't play your video game." Again, fear.

But I agree that threatening them with eternal damnation is a bit more
severe than denying them a piece of chocolate cake.

I'm with you on the JC stuff, but no way can I call religion "pure evil".
The way it was distorted and heaved upon you as you grew up, though, I can
certainly understand why you would feel it is.

I could go on for years talking about this, but I shall refrain, as I am

Aw come on, it's monday.
