I've had hours of missing e-mail but it was eventually restored. I have not
had issues with Gmail. Just like anything else. Pay attention to how you use
it. Passwords can get lost Messed up regardless of program.

Every service provider may have it's downtime. Just because you manage your
e-mail server doesn't mean the Host couldn't have a Location Wide outage
causing you mail to be lost.
