You could. But no matter what OSes you're planning on Dual booting you should consider placing each on their own partitions. I used separate partitions, maybe that has something to do with it? Honestly I don't think it's really worth it. I can't think of any reason to keep both. I dual-booted when I got it but pretty much abandoned XP within days. When I upgraded the hard disks I just didn't even consider it.
