Personally, I have no fear of "off brand" televisions. If it looks
good, buy it. But don't buy it sight unseen. I would *NEVER* buy a
TV that I haven't seen personally along side numerous other TVs. If
you're willing to do that, you're brave.

When I go to a place like Walmart or Best Buy, and I stare at the
glorious wall of flat panels, there is definately a difference in TVs,
even TVs of the same type (1080i LCD, 1080p plasma, whatever)... I
guess it starts to be about contrast ratio and all that crap, but me,
I don't care about the numbers so much as what does the picture look
like in comparison with all the other TVs on the wall.

That's at least partly how I'll make my decision to buy my next TV.

Of course cost will likely be a big factor too, since it's unlikely
I'm going to be allowed to spend $3000 on a TV.

Currently, my 30" Westinghouse LCD is still working nicely after 3
years, though I'd like something bigger. Westinghouse isn't exactly
Sony or Phillips. But I like it.
