Next time you can backup with Acronis Backup software, make a complete disk image. Then if things don't work out, you can just restore the image. This is what I did the first time I moved to Vista. I used it for about two months then restored the XP image. I thought that after a year things would have been a lot better, though.
But take heart, Vista Service pack 1 may be released by February 15th.
