What I'd like to see is a complete elimination of all taxes except the Fair Tax, and just increase the tax percentage on the Fair Tax until it funds the equivalent of what it did before there was a Fair tax.
I mean, no more alcohol or tobacco taxes, no more specialized or "hidden" taxes of any kind -- everything paid directly by an aware citizenry. And no whining about "non-smokers shouldn't have to foot the bill for smokers" and such. You could make those arguments about anything and everything until the cows came home, and then argue that cows should be taxed differently because they cause heart disease. None of this matters more than the citizenry knowing exactly what kind of a bite the government takes out of their ass every time they buy anything. If that doesn't get out the torches and pitchforks, nothing will.
