My 7 year old has been growing her hair out for a while now. It's
down almost to the small of her back. She loves it long, loves
putting it in pony tails, loves having it curled.

A few months back, she and her mother were watching a show on tv about
people with cancer and "Locks of Love" came up. My wife explained how
people give their hair to be made into wigs for the cancer patients.
At that time, my daughter thought that she might want to do it. The
hair kept growing longer and longer and she got too attached to it and
had decided against cutting it.

Fast forward about 4 months and a little girl in my twins dance class
was diagnosed with cancer a few days after Christmas. They removed an
orange sized tumor and a kidney from her. Yesterday, there was a
front page story about it in the local small town newspaper and my
daughter saw it. The picture was of the little girl, with no hair,
sitting between her two parents.

This morning, on the way to school, my daughter told my wife, "I've
been thinking with my head about my hair, how pretty it is, how nice
it is.......but I think it's time I think with my heart about it.
Momma, can we cut it today and donate it to Locks of Love"

Well, she did. She cut 14 inches of hair off. She's got a cute
little bob cut and I couldn't be more proud of her right now.
