Just a random thought on that ...

I know lots of people that think their tax return is a windfall; each
year they plan large chuncks of consumer spending around what they get
refunded.  Vacations, that new refrig, et al.

The Fair tax would eliminate that and that would probably mean that
lottery ticket sales would go up, clubs and bars would see a biz
increase, Starbucks might benefit, etc but large purchases would fall.

Not sure of the impact of that, but it seems like it would be adverse.
