The local weathermen are casually mentioning that this is a "La Nina"
season. So hopefully this is temporary..

Lake Lanier that feeds the Atlanta area is in a similar position. 
Luckily for us (if you look at it that way), we've been TERRIBLE in the 
Atlanta area over the years about water conservation, which means there 
are a ton of things residents can easily do to make a huge impact on 
their water consumption. When it comes time, we'll just have to change 
our behavior (probably through legislation), but the water won't 
actually run out.
