Just got back from Stockholm and I loved it with the exception of the
breathtaking cost of everything. Examples:

* 2 large Starbucks coffees (Americanos w/ an extra shot): $16
* 1 tap average beer: $9
* 10 min cab ride: $30 (on Taxi Stockholm; any other one, triple it)
* Dinner at an average restaurant w/ drinks: $120

And our travel snafu room we needed in AMS at the airport hilton
woulda been $400/nt would it not been for those kick ass Hilton Honors
points which brings me to how we paid for this trip.

The Hilton Stockholm kicks major ass. It's one of the best Hiltons
we've stayed at and one of the best located hotels in town - I think
our room (4th floor) has the best view from any hotel in the city.
Anyway we paid for the room with Hilton points and mostly ate in the
totally awesome Hilton exec club which saved us about $100/day. Want
a port wine, beer, or 18 year old scotch? np, it's free. Open from
6am-11pm. Awesome. Hot breakfast, snacks all day, and some hot stuff
at night meant you can practically eat all your meals there if you
wanted.

Stockholm, if you like European cities, it's awesome: a walking town ,
some english but too much, no danger at all, lots of cools stuff to
see, great subway system, excellent coffee (better than Seattle!),
nice people. It's my new favorite city.

Plus it's got an ICEBAR.

PS - the european press is all over Obama - they love him and he's on
the cover of most periodicals.
