So here are the results…

Made two identical cups and had The Lovely And Talented Lisa hand them to me
while I was blindfolded.

I could tell the French pressed Jamaican Blue Mountain right away. I also
took into consideration how I might be prejudiced toward my familiar Maxwell
House and tried to be as objective as possible in judging.

The Maxwell House was decidedly one-dimensional in flavor on all counts.
Flat and simple, but pleasantly mild.

The Jamaican Blue Mountain was complex in flavor with notes that hit my
palate strongly but not offensively. It wasn’t as mild as the Maxwell
House, but I also realized that perhaps my idea of great coffee might be as
naïve and undeveloped as someone liking Boones Farm Strawberry over Chateau
Latour.

So yes, the difference is hit-you-in-the-face-with-a-baseball-bat obvious,
but when it comes right down to it, the Jamaican Blue Mountain wasn’t to me
worth almost $34.00 per pound. The cost-per-yum factor was still in favor
of the Maxwell House, but that could also be because I’m not yet
sophisticated enough to appreciate it.

So Larry Lyons, while not completely owning me with a full transfer of deed
and title, certainly has a long-term lease on me at a great rate and option
for a $1 buyout at the end of term.

Respectfully,
