My father-in-law is a surgeon and is originally from India. He had to stop operating several years ago because a disc problem prevented him from having 100% use of his arm. US doctors recommended surgery, but he opted instead to go to India and have treatments done at an Ayurvedic clinic. The treatment was very successful. He didn't go back to surgery, but he regained use of his arm.
I don't know much about Ayurveda, but it seems to have done the trick for him.
